BRONTE
HOUSE #2
Awarded as winner of the 2020 Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Housing Awards for contract houses, price range of $5-7M, and winner of best use of glass. This recently completed project is the ultimate Sydney beach house located in a prime position overlooking Bronte and Tamarama beaches.

This project involved a very complex demolition of the existing house which was elevated from the street on a steep site. Once the existing house was demolished the rock excavation began, with approximately 1500m3 of rock removed.

From the street this residence is a commanding four level structure, built predominantly in concrete and masonry. The lower ground and ground floors of the house feature sandstone and rammed earth walls.

The lift shaft was constructed out of glass blocks which were a challenge to work with. The structural steel had to be set out to work to brick courses as the glass blocks cannot be cut. Surrounding the lift shaft over the 4 levels is a steel frame staircase with glass treads.
