ROSE BAY
HOUSE
Rose Bay House involved a major restoration of an existing residence with the demolition of the rear of the house and addition of a new library, kitchen, dining, lounge and laundry. The first floor included a new master suite, children's bedrooms and private outdoor deck areas.
An interesting feature of the house was the use of solid timber dowels inspired by Buddhist prayer wheels. To achieve the design brief we treated the dowel columns like oversized skateboard wheels, incorporating ball bearings at the top and bottom.
A new 20 metre lap pool along the boundary required careful piling and shoring excavation.
